Job Summary  CHILD-BRIGHT is a pan-Canadian research network focused on improving life outcomes for children with brain-based developmental disabilities and their families. Its work is carried out within Canada’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research. The Senior Manager, Communications & Marketing is the central communications lead for the pan-Canadian CHILD-BRIGHT Network. Working within approved network priorities and with a high degree of autonomy, the position shapes, implements, and evaluates the communications plan;

leads communications projects; provides advice to network programs and leaders; and coordinates digital channels, communications staff, and external service providers. The work informs and engages families, persons with lived experience, researchers, trainees, partners, funders, media, and the public. The position translates scientific, operational, and community priorities into clear, accessible, and audience centered communications. It identifies opportunities to improve the network's approach and leads the development of recommended changes with the Director of Operations and relevant programs.

The CHILD BRIGHT Executive Committee provides final approval for the overall strategy and designated high profile or sensitive communications. The position is employed by UBC as the network's administrative home. Its mandate is network wide and is not limited to UBC led projects or activities.
Work Performed  Communications planning, strategy implementation, and advisory services Leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of the communications plan and translates it into annual and project specific work plans. Defines communications project objectives, audiences, key messages, channels, schedules, deliverables, approval pathways, and performance measures in consultation with network leaders and program teams. Reviews audience feedback, channel performance, emerging issues, and network priorities;

identifies opportunities and recommends changes to communications approaches, tools, and priorities. When material changes to the network strategy are required, leads the development of recommendations with guidance from the Director of Operations and input from relevant programs, committees, and lived experience partners for Executive Committee approval. Provides consultative communications and marketing advice to Service Programs, committees, researchers, trainees, and network leaders, including advice on audiences, messaging, channels, accessibility, timing, and risk.
