Now Hiring - Fracking Petition Canvassers THE ROLE

Your job will be to canvas door to door, or occasionally at special events or busy public locations, to gather signatures on our petition asking the provincial government to implement a managed decline of the LNG industry and end fracking in B.C. You’ll be responsible for representing the Wilderness Committee’s positions to members of the public and answering questions about fracking in B.C.

This role will continue until the next B.C. provincial election.

You’ll work as an independent contractor for a minimum of 12 hours per week at a rate of $25.00/hour.

The Wilderness Committee is a grassroots, people powered, wilderness preservation group. We have a history of more than 40-years on the front line of environmental battles in B.C. and across Canada, with offices in Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg and Toronto. Recognizing that enshrining Indigenous rights and title is fundamental to addressing the biodiversity and climate crises, we have helped to protect millions of hectares of wilderness, defended the most at-risk species in government offices and worked tirelessly to fight irresponsible fossil fuel development wreaking havoc on the climate.

• Go door to door to gather signatures for our petition to end fracking in B.C.
• Represent the Wilderness Committee to members of the public while canvassing
• Table at community events such as pride festivals or street fairs
• Handle supporter information with care and confidentiality
• Recruit new people to send letters to their MLA calling on them to end fracking in B.C.
• Participate in briefings and canvasser training with Wilderness Committee campaigners and organizers
• Perform other duties, such as participating in special events, as assigned
