Location:
St Paul9s Hospital, Vancouver, BC. Regular Part-Time, 0.50-1.0 FTE. Rotation:
Days/Nights. Salary: 32.84 - 41.35 CAD per hour. Union: 203. Labour agreement: NURS. Dual RN/RPN (BCNU/HSA) posting.
Summary:
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager or Resident Care Manager and working with the interdisciplinary team, the LPN provides nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and the Standards of Practice for the LPNs of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, seeking RN/RPN support for increased acuity or tasks outside the LPN scope as appropriate.
The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs in alignment with Providence Health Care values and protocols. Participates in care plan development, assessments, interventions, documentation and advocacy. Participates in care conferences, may assist with orientation of new staff and students, and responds to incidents per procedures.

Education:
- Graduation from a recognized Practical Nurse program or equivalent experience.
- Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
- Current basic cardiac life support certification.

- Provide safe, respectful nursing care to assigned patients/residents with evolving care plans and priorities.
- Perform head-to-toe assessments, monitor for abnormal signs, and collaborate with RN/RPN as needed.
- Communicate with physicians, transcribe orders, and document care in records.
- Prepare for procedures, assist with admissions and discharges, and coordinate with the care team.
- Administer medications within scope and monitor effects; collaborate with the care team.
- Use evidence-based resources to maintain up-to-date knowledge.
- Respond to incidents and participate in safety protocols.
- Assist with orientation of new staff and students.
- Identify patient learning needs and provide education; participate in care planning meetings.
- Support discharge planning and participate in hospital committees as appropriate.
- Operate and maintain equipment, handle supplies and dispose of hazardous materials per procedures.
- Perform related clerical duties and other duties as assigned.
