RN Clinic - Endocrinology

Position Overview
Peace Health is seeking a RN Clinic - Endocrinology RN for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Day position. Salary range is $46.27 – $69.41. Hiring rate depends on education, training, experience, collective bargaining agreement terms, seniority, and other factors.

Job Summary
Provides professional nursing care to patients in the clinic/outpatient setting in compliance with professional practice standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Essential Functions

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs including triaging patient phone calls, counseling patients, providing patient education, taking histories, administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs.

Document patient care in the healthcare record per established standards.

Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.

Participate in developing and maintaining established policies, procedures, and objectives.

Participate in quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.

Demonstrate competence in making professional judgments pertaining to patient care.

Screen and prioritize patient telephone or walk‑in inquiries concerning medical care, prescription refills and insurance authorizations and referrals.

Evaluate and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Accredited School of Nursing (Required)

Experience:

1 year preferred as a registered nurse.

Credentials:
Registered Nurse in state of practice (Required);
Basic Life Support upon hire (Required).

Skills:

Ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment (Required);
Basic computer skills including MS Office (Required);
Effective prioritization skills (Required);
Ability to provide health education to patients, staff and community (Required);
Knowledge of Medicare, JCAHO, DNV & HCFA regulations pertaining to ambulatory care (Required);
Knowledge and application of age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required).

Working Conditions – Lifting

Patient handling: no greater than 35 lbs without assistive equipment or devices (NIOSH).

Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

Push/Pull: frequently up to 45 lbs force (e.g., medical carts).

Hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100‑125 lbs of force; frequency should be seldom or occasionally.

Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.

Bending/stooping/squatting/reaching/kneeling frequently.

Lifting (non‑patient) up to 20 lbs occasionally and 5 lbs frequently.

Environmental Conditions

Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Mental/Visual

Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
