Salary range: CAD $41.42/hr – $55.91/hr.
Hours of work, including start/stop times, days off, work area and work site may be subject to change consistent with operations requirements and applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement and statutes.

Responsibilities- Assess, identify, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care required to assist patients/residents.
- Develop, implement, evaluate and revise the plan of care.
- Incorporate individual and/or group teaching into the care plan and nursing interventions and/or make referrals to other identified resources.
- Support other nurses and health care professionals by collegially sharing information and demonstrating procedures.
- Review patient/resident status through chart review, observation, interviews, questionnaires, collateral info and consultations.
- Assess patient/resident problems and needs, plan and prioritize nursing care and interventions, develop plan of care using clinical judgement and evidence‑based practice.
- Provide nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, technology and PHC standards.
- Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, re‑assess if goals are not met and modify plan of care accordingly.
- Record observations and report problems and/or changes in patient/resident condition to designated staff.
- Provide direct nursing interventions for management of crisis and life‑threatening situations.
- Document information including assessments, plan of care, patient/resident status and progress and discharge plans in a manual and/or computerized environment.
- Identify and respond to patient/resident and family learning needs, provide patient educational materials, incorporate individual and group teaching activities into the care plan, make referrals to other resources, lead group patient/family sessions and coach to develop health‑promoting behaviors.
- Provide direction to other staff such as Care Attendants and LPNs regarding patient/resident care and facilitate teamwork on the units.
- Participate in nursing orientation and share clinical knowledge with other staff, nursing students and members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in and attend in‑service presentations and other educational programs as required.
- Participate in planning, implementation and evaluation of patient/resident care policies, procedures, education materials and best practices through unit, program, quality improvement activities, committees, etc.
- Support nursing research by identifying areas for possible clinical projects and participating in research activities.
- Facilitate discharge plans and liaise with families and community resources.
- Advocate for patients/residents to protect and promote their rights.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum 1–2 years medical/surgical experience (preferred).
- Applicants who have received Post‑Basic Education Funding from PHC within the past 2 years are not eligible.
- Must successfully complete the Post‑Basic Education prior to working in the Department; PHC will fund the education (100% tuition and books) and provide wages at 100% of posted FTE.
- Proficient in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures.
