Passport Health (PPH) Travel Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive, evidence-based pre-travel medical care to individuals traveling internationally. Practicing autonomously within the scope defined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, the NP is authorized to assess, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications related to travel health.

In this role, the NP prepares clients for safe travel by delivering education and guidance to support informed travel health and safety decisions. This includes administering vaccinations and prescribing and/or dispensing medications and products to prevent and manage travel-related conditions such as malaria, traveler’s diarrhea, altitude sickness, motion sickness, and other communicable infectious diseases, including vaccine‑preventable illnesses.

As a Prescribing Travel Health Nurse Practitioner, you will support clients by providing medications for malaria prophylaxis, treatment of traveler’s diarrhea, prevention of altitude‑related illness, and management of motion sickness. In addition to direct patient care, the NP collaborates with Travel Health Consultant Registered Nurses (RNs) by offering clinical advice and support related to prescribing and patient management.

In certain locations, the NP may also conduct specialized medical assessments related to fitness for travel, including evaluations for adventure travelers, military personnel, contractors, and government employees.

The NP is responsible for collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary healthcare team, while also contributing to the development, review, and adherence to organizational policies and clinical practices. As a member of the clinical team, the NP participates in regular meetings with leadership and peers to support quality care and continuous improvement.

This role may require coverage across multiple clinic locations within British Columbia and may include providing services in different settings or remotely. Scheduling is based on client demand, clinic needs, and NP availability. This is a temporary, part‑time position reporting to the Regional Nurse Manager.
