Registered Nurse; RN - Solid Organ Transplant; Post-Assessment
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is proud to be part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPRs), aimed at enhancing nursing practice and strengthening quality of care across the health system. In British Columbia, mNPRs are developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU), and health organizations.
Salary: CAD $41.42 – $55.91 per hour.
Come work as a Registered Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Post‑Transplant team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC.
Responsibilities- Practice in accordance with the BCCNM standards of practice and the code of ethics for registered nurses within a client and family‑centred care model.
- Assess clients post solid organ transplantation requiring admission to the Solid Organ Transplant (SOT) Clinic and coordinate interdisciplinary assessment and follow‑up treatment throughout their lifespan.
- Plan, implement, and review client education using adult education principles.
- Consult, confer, and collaborate with team members and other health‑care providers to address health issues of this client group.
- Participate on multidisciplinary committees as a representative of transplant services.
- Review literature, analyze trends, and recommend changes to modify current nursing practices for this client group.
- Ensure compliance with vaccination and infection‑control policies required by the Ministry of Health for all health‑care workers.
- Hours of work, days off, and work area may change consistent with operational requirements and the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of two (2) years of recent related experience, including one year of experience in adult patient education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client and family‑centred model of care.
- Knowledge of BCCNM standards of practice for registered nurses.
- Knowledge of adult education principles and methods.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based clinical practice related to solid organ transplantation.
- Knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Knowledge of other health‑care disciplines and their role in client care.
- Ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.
- Ability to teach, demonstrate technique, and facilitate learning with clients.
- Ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, clients and their families, both one‑on‑one and in groups.
- Listening and information‑seeking skills that promote communication and a collaborative problem‑solving approach within a multidisciplinary setting.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Ability to provide effective consultation.
- Ability to organize, establish workload priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Skill in CPR techniques.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Skill in the use of equipment and techniques appropriate to the education and treatment of clients post‑transplantation.
