Summary
Renal Short Stay  is a specialized outpatient service that works in close partnership with the Renal Inpatient Unit. This role provides care to renal patients requiring treatments, infusions, and procedures that can be safely delivered without hospital admission. Our team cares for a well-established patient population, allowing nurses to develop ongoing therapeutic relationships and provide highly individualized care. By offering timely access to treatment, the unit helps prevent unnecessary Emergency Department visits, lengthy waits for care, and avoidable inpatient admissions.
Patients receiving care in the unit may require a variety of therapies, including specialty and research-related infusions, creating opportunities for nurses to develop advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in renal care.
This position offers a unique combination of autonomy and collaboration. Nurses work independently while remaining closely connected to the broader renal program and interdisciplinary team. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, making it an excellent fit for nurses who enjoy critical thinking, strong clinical decision-making.

What You Bring

Education:

Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, or in Residential Care and Mental Health, current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
Two years recent related renal experience, including 1 year of patient teaching experience.
