Quality Assurance Analyst

Our public sector client is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to establish and sustain QA processes using Power BI, SQL, and data validation methodologies.

This contract opportunity supports business operations, regulatory compliance, resource planning, and performance management initiatives within a public sector environment. The role focuses on establishing and maturing a formal QA function for Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, and analytics products through structured testing, release governance, and end‑to‑end data validation. The assignment supports high‑visibility reporting solutions used for operational decision‑making, compliance reporting, and KPI monitoring across multiple business units.

The engagement is project‑driven with hybrid work arrangements and potential contract extension based on project demand.

1 year contract to start. Vancouver, approx 50 hours/month working in your own time.

• 5+ years in quality assurance, data validation, and testing methodologies
• Power BI, SQL, semantic models, and DAX validation
• Azure Dev Ops, Jira, defect tracking, and test management
• SQL Server, ETL pipelines, star schema, and snowflake schema validation

• Power Query (M)
• Microsoft Fabric
• Test automation and reusable validation scripts

• Develop and execute test strategies, test plans, and test cases for Power BI solutions
• Perform functional testing and regression testing across analytics components
• Validate end‑to‑end data accuracy from source systems through reporting outputs
• Identify, document, prioritize and track defects using standard tools
• Validate fixes prior to production deployment
• Review business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and reporting specifications for testability and alignment
• Develop and maintain reusable regression test suites and data validation scripts
