Position Summary:
Specific responsibilities will include coordinating a multi-institutional network of partners involved in American manatee biodiversity data mobilization across South America and the Caribbean; leading the mobilization, preliminary standardization, quality control, and publication of species occurrence datasets in compliance with GBIF requirements, Darwin Core standards, and FAIR data principles; providing technical guidance and hands-on support to institutional partners throughout data cleaning, metadata preparation, and dataset publication workflows;
planning and conducting regular virtual meetings with collaborators to coordinate activities, monitor progress, and address technical challenges related to data mobilization; planning, organizing, and coordinating a regional in-person training workshop focused on capacity building in biodiversity data management, including Darwin Core formatting, metadata preparation, and GBIF publishing workflows; overseeing project implementation, timelines, and reporting in accordance with GBIF BID programme requirements;
and ensuring dissemination of project outputs through datasets published on GBIF, a workshop report, a multilingual technical guide, and a final written report by March 31, 2027 to support scientific research, conservation planning, and policy-relevant applications.
