The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site, (preferably near our Vancouver site at 2150 Western Parkway) and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time.

the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time
Project Lead to join the Network Centre for Applied Development (NetCAD) team within the dynamic Innovation & Portfolio Management group of the Innovation division.

The NetCAD team is responsible for supporting product and process development for fresh blood components and providing blood products to researchers through the Blood4

Research program.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development, execution, reporting, and management of Product & Process Development projects or components of corporate-level strategic projects. You will work independently or closely with a project team and other members of the organization to achieve project objectives.

  • Relying on your research & development technical skills, you will lead development of new blood component manufacturing and/or testing processes.
  • Employing your knowledge of process capability and your problem-solving skills, you will identify opportunities for process improvement and design novel solutions to improve efficiency, consistency and/or quality.
  • Capitalizing on your experience in development study design and execution, you will design study protocols and work instructions for assigned projects.
  • Leveraging your analytical skills, you will read pertinent technical and scientific literature to assist in identifying research objectives, strategies, and methods.
  • Utilizing your expertise in project planning, you will design and develop project plans.
  • Harnessing your proficiency in project management, you will ensure projects progress as planned and on schedule.
  • Applying your knowledge of resource acquisition, you will procure equipment and supplies as needed by the project.
  • Drawing on your risk management skills, you will identify, assess, and monitor project risks throughout the life of the project, develop mitigation strategies against these risks, and implement these strategies if required.
