Job Summary The primary focus of the Researcher Assistant 3 is to coordinate several industry funded clinical trials as well as investigator initiated studies in the Division of Pediatric Neurology.
The responsibilities include:
Preparing REB submissions, and obtaining REB approvals for clinical trials and other studies
Invoicing sponsors for the work completed
Identification and enrollment of eligible subjects
Scheduling on site or virtual visits
Tracking enrolled subjects for follow-up assessments
Completion of the Case Report Forms (CRF’s), electronic data entry and database management
Working with study monitors
Exceptional organizational skills, as well as high degree of motivation, enthusiasm, and initiative are required for this position.
The RA3 will be allocated work space in the Research office, K3-168 in Pediatric Neurology.
Organizational Status Reports to the Principal Investigators (PIs) and the Research Director for Neurosciences. Works with the Principal Investigators, Research Director, the Quality Assurance Manager for Neurology, other study coordinators in Neurology & Neurosurgery, consultants in statistics, nurses, IT and clerical staff. For Quality control of the work, the RA reports to the Neurology Research Manager.
The RA3 will be allocated work space in the Research office, K3-168 in Pediatric Neurology.
Work Performed For the multicenter studies where BCCH-Pediatric Neurology takes part in:
Pre-screen and identify potential patients for his research studies
Recruit and consent patients for his studies
Organize study visits according to the protocol
Call families of enrolled patients to arrange follow-up visits
Complete Case Report Forms Maintain and organize the study patient log, case report forms and other important project related documents
Ensure that the studies are performed according to ethical guidelines and GCPMaintain appropriate regulatory documentation
Report Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events using the appropriate modes of communication and documentation
Review data results with principal investigators
For Investigator initiated studies in Pediatric Neurology:
With the PI, develop case report forms specific to the study
Develop a working study protocol pertaining to data collection and patient tracking
Collaborating with the PI to develop a project database
Review/analyze and enter collected data into database
Testing the performance of the aforementioned project database and reporting problems
Identify incomplete data collection to the PIMaintain and organize the study patient log, case report forms and other important project-related files
Recruit and consent patients
Call families of enrolled patients to arrange follow-up visits
Maintain up-to-date records of study numbers and follow-up exams
Assist PI in transferring data to other study sites
Assist other individuals/students in data collection
Organizing regular meetings of study team members
Maintain ethics approvals and report adverse events
Review data results with the PI and the statistician
Assist in the interpretation/analysis of the study results
