As a full-time Research Associate in UBC's Department of Zoology, you will support Dr. Colin Brauner's active research group. Candidates should possess a PhD and a minimum of four years of postdoctoral experience in fish physiology. This role emphasizes gill regeneration in Atlantic salmon, and successful applicants will showcase a proven track record in scientific publications and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research molecular and physiological aspects of gill regeneration
• Mentor students and guide research projects
• Use histology and immunohistochemistry effectively
• Conduct RNAseq and transcriptomic analysis
• Utilize image analysis tools for quantitative data
Requirements:
• PhD in a relevant field required
• Four years of postdoctoral experience minimum
• Strong background in scientific writing and publications
• Experience in salmon husbandry
• Skills in biochemical assays and metabolic performance measurements
