Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and technically capable Intermediate Forest Analyst to join our team. Working alongside senior foresters, ecologists, GIS specialists, and project managers, you will contribute to a broad range of forestry, land management, and cumulative impact/environmental assessment projects across Canada.
This is a varied role that combines office‑based analysis, landscape modeling and reporting with potential for periodic fieldwork, e.g. data collection for forest inventories, ecosystem mapping, etc. You will support the delivery of strategic plans including but not limited to forest management plans, forest inventories, carbon assessments, evaluation of Ecosystem Goods and Services, biodiversity appraisals, habitat management baselines and projections for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients.
Keyresponsibilities
- Undertake/collaborate with team members on forest estate modelling and resource management planning projects using Forest Estate Models (Patchworks, Remsoft Spatial Planning Suite, STSM, SELES)
- Conduct spatial analysis with ArcGIS and GIS, POSTGIS/PostgreSQL
- Undertake statistical analysis (R, python, excel), growth & yield modelling (FPS, FVS, TASS, TIPSY, VDYP, GYPSY, MGM) and carbon modelling (GCBM, CBM)
- Interpret and apply land use, forest inventory and policy data
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on sustainable forest management, carbon analysis, and Indigenous‑led stewardship and planning projects
- Prepare high‑quality technical reports and presentations for clients, government agencies and stakeholders
- Support senior staff in preparing bids, proposals and project deliverables to agreed timescales and budgets
- Maintain accurate project records, field notes and document management in line with company QA procedures
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the development of analytical tools and workflows
- Consulting industry experience considered an asset
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in forest landscape analysis and modelling
- Proficiency in spatial analysis, modelling software and data visualization tools
- Strong problem‑solving, communication and project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce professional technical reports
- Knowledge of forest management framework and legislation within BC and other jurisdictions
- RPF designation (or eligibility) is an asset but not required
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork, including to remote locations
