Associate Research Scientist – Protein Mass Spectrometry
We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Research Scientist with demonstrated hands‑on experience using mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques to join our team for a 12‑month fixed term. You will focus on the characterization of therapeutic small molecules, antibodies and/or other proteins, while working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, interacting with a diverse team of scientists.
How you might spend your days- Performing LC‑MS methods for quantitation and characterization of small molecule compounds and/or antibodies or other proteins
- Evaluating and recording performance metrics for LC‑MS platforms and assays
- Documenting results in an ELN and communicating across a matrix team
- Assisting with various analytical laboratory activities, including compound inventory, LC‑MS instrument operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Assisting with assay development, including method validation and optimization
- Performing routine and advanced bioanalytical assays to support in vitro activities
- Developing and implementing standard operating procedures
- Organizing, supporting, and collaborating with team members to meet project deliverables and timelines
- You have a MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, or a have a BSc with 3+ years of relevant wet lab experience in an academic or industry setting
- You have hands on experience preparing and analyzing organic compounds, metabolites, or other ADC-related small molecules using LC‑MS workflows
- You have experience with analytical and scientific software such as Chromeleon, Trace Finder, Compound Discoverer, Chem Draw, Prism
- You have hands on experience operating LC‑MS instrumentation including QQQ, Q‑TOF, or Orbitrap MS systems
- You are able to implement methods for high throughput sample preparation and automated data analysis, and have experience in method qualifications and drafting SOPs
- You have experience with other small molecule analytical techniques such as NMR or IR Spectroscopy. Familiarity with large molecule analytical techniques such as UHPLC, CE‑SDS, SEC‑MALLS, DLS, or icIEF would also be welcome.

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $61,600 - $77,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non‑match) RRSP contribution.
