The University of British Columbia’s Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute invites candidates for this Research Associate position. Ideal applicants will have a relevant PhD and over 3 years of postdoctoral experience in high-pressure synthesis. Your expertise in managing multi-anvil presses will drive research efforts in materials that showcase quantum phenomena.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate a high-pressure synthesis laboratory with advanced multi-anvil presses
• Develop standard operating protocols and manage lab facilities
• Mentor students and postdoctoral researchers in ongoing projects
• Support diverse research groups using the multi-anvil press
• Publicize findings through international conference presentations
Requirements:
• PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science
• Over 3 years of postdoctoral experience in relevant synthesis fields
• Experience in facility operations and capability development
• Strong publication record in scientific journals
• Demonstrated research leadership and mentoring skills
