About the role We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented individual to join our Cell Screening team s position is integral to our laboratory operations, focusing on primary cell isolation, reagent preparation, and supporting our single-cell screening workflows. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists and project teams to ensure the smooth execution of experiments and contribute to the advancement of our research efforts.

Salary:
The salary range for this position is CAD $51,000 - $64,000 annually, depending on education and relevant experience.

What you'll do
  • Assist with high-throughput screening of single cells, collaborating with project teams to achieve project milestones and ensure experimental accuracy.
  • Isolate cells from primary sources, such as tissues or blood samples, for various experimental applications.
  • Support the development, optimization, and implementation of cell enrichment and isolation protocols to improve efficiency and reproducibility.
  • Prepare, label, and aliquot laboratory reagents required for cell screening activities, ensuring proper documentation and storage.
  • Manage cell stocks and maintain freezer inventories using our Electronic Lab Notebook system, ensuring accurate tracking of samples and reagents.
  • Collaborate with lab management and team members to organize and maintain inventories of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment, adhering to safety protocols and suggesting improvements to systems and processes as needed.
  • Work with team members to develop, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance and consistency in laboratory practices.
  • Enhance technical skills related to routine cell screening methods, including cell handling, labeling, and processing techniques.
  • Support quality control measures by documenting procedures, results, and observations accurately in laboratory records.
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute ideas for process improvements, and stay updated on relevant scientific techniques and best practices.
  • Assist with troubleshooting experimental issues and optimizing protocols to improve yield and data quality.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, assisting colleagues, and supporting team goals.
  • Engage in training sessions and professional development opportunities to expand technical expertise and understanding of cell biology and immunology techniques.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Hands‑on experience working in a wet lab environment, preferably with primary cells or cell culture techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including potential shifts from 7 am to 3 pm, to support laboratory operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to document procedures and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Self‑motivated, quick learner, with a proactive attitude and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Familiarity with mammalian tissue isolation, processing, and cell culture techniques is preferred but not required; willingness to learn these skills is essential.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic lab notebooks and data entry.
