Support the Engelhardt lab at UAB as a Temporary Animal Research Assistant, focusing on animal welfare and experimental protocols in a busy research setting.
This full-time, temporary role ensures the daily care and monitoring of research animals. Key activities include maintaining health records, adhering to specialized dietary needs, and assisting with lab experiments. You will also engage in data collection, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines and play a vital role in a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive care for research animals daily
• Record and monitor animal health, behavior, and wellbeing
• Assist in lab experiment setups and basic procedures
• Support adherence to UAB and IACUC guidelines
• Collect and analyze research data diligently
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Experience in animal handling or veterinary settings
• Ability to take on physically demanding tasks
• Detail-oriented with strong reliability
• Experience working both independently and within a team
