Job Overview

This Project Scientist opportunity is for a flexible and self-motivated individual that is willing to learn and grow as part of a team while providing environmental assessment expertise to projects within the Sediment and Risk Assessment (SRA) and Remediation (REM) service lines at EHS Support. As a Project Scientist, you will be joining a high-performance team of risk assessors, toxicologists, ecologists, scientists, and engineers that is focused on providing high-quality technical and strategic solutions to a variety of clients.

Your primary responsibilities in the Project Scientist position will include managing and leading multi-media environmental investigations for routine and complex scenarios under federal and state programs. You will also be responsible for managing a team of talented professionals and providing mentorship to junior team members.

Responsibilities
  • Manage routine to complex projects with strict adherence to schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Plan and lead field-based investigations of multiple environmental media (e.g., surface water, sediment, pore water, soil, and biological communities/tissue) in various aquatic and terrestrial systems.
  • Ensure field programs are conducted in accordance with investigation work plans, data quality objectives, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead analysis of environmental data in support of investigation objectives using Microsoft Excel and statistical software (e.g., R).
  • Prepare high-quality technical deliverables and presentations for effective communication of investigation findings.
  • Support development of ecological risk assessments under federal and state regulatory programs, including CERCLA and RCRA.
  • Mentor and upskill junior team members.
Specific Experience and Skills
  • 8+ years of experience in consulting.
  • Commitment to a behavior-based safety culture.
  • Proven field leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and developing staff.
  • Strong knowledge of field instrumentation and monitoring equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with regulations and guidance for remedial investigation and risk assessment under state and federal programs (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Education and Licenses
  • Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, ecology, environmental science, natural resources, toxicology or a related field.
