Security Guard

Commissionaires BC is currently looking for security guards with a passion for customer service to work at the HMCS Discovery in Stanley Park.

Rotation:
Tuesday - Friday, 1500 - 2300

Payrate: $21.67/hr

• Controlling access to site
• Conducting security and fire patrols during silent hours
• Reporting any unauthorized activities to Site Supervisor and Facility Manager
• Reporting all noteworthy incidents to Facility Manager, Site Supervisor and Commissionaires Management
• Answering the main gate’s telephone
• Checking both land-line and cell phone voice mails
• Checking computer for e-mails and appointments
• Securing gate when guard house is not manned
• Maintaining control of keys and ensuring the key log book is completed correctly
• Conducting basic public relations, dealing with questions from members of public

• Valid BC Security Licence
• Been resident in Canada for a minimum of 5 years for clearance eligibility
• OFA 1 Certificate

• Able to de-escalate any situations as needed
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, and equipment such as faxes and photocopiers
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and professional manner
• Strong multi-tasking, prioritizing, and organizational skills
• Physically able to perform assigned duties, including the ability to conduct extensive foot patrols
• Fluent English written, verbal and reading skills
