This position is for a part-time officer or officers. Coverage is needed to finish out the 25-26 school year during the school day. Future duties would include serving as a substitute for full-time officers and supervising athletic and event activities. Nixa Public Schools can commission officers. Otherwise, the following duties apply to all officers.
Enforce laws and ordinances and assist school officials with the enforcement of Board policies. Build positive relationships with students, staff, and community members. Attend school activities and provide a visible, positive image. Help promote and maintain a safe and drug‑free environment. Ability and willingness to adapt to many different situations. Supervise evening events of varying grade levels/buildings. Perform typical law enforcement duties.
Assist personnel with student supervision. Coordinate security at school events and communicate with other law enforcement agencies. Provide traffic control and monitoring on and around school campuses, including oversight of student parking. Serve as a resource for students, parents, and staff. Develop and implement proactive programs, including classroom presentations and substance prevention. Work under the direction of the district's Chief SPO.
REQUIRED
Law Enforcement Academy Graduate required;
Missouri Law Enforcement Certification required. Minimum of two (2) years experience in law enforcement or related field, five (5) years preferred; school experience a plus. Must be able to be commissioned by the Nixa School Board of Education. Willingness to have a flexible work schedule is a must, including evenings and weekends based on the district's needs. Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
Must successfully pass a background check and drug test that are satisfactory to the Board of Education.
