Culturally Responsive Security Officer

Position: Culturally Responsive Security Officer Role
Make a difference as a Relational Security Officer at Providence Health Care. Focus on promoting cultural safety and reducing workplace violence in healthcare settings.

As a Relational Security Officer, you will engage in trauma-informed practices while building rapport with patients, residents, and visitors. This position includes a robust five-week full-time training, addressing key areas like equity, diversity, and Indigenous Cultural Safety. You will work in both St. Paul’s Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol buildings and grounds using surveillance equipment

• Respond to emergencies including aggressive patients

• Investigate and report disturbances using non-violent methods

• Provide security for patients and staff as needed

• Liaise with community officials on security protocols

Requirements:

• Current BC Security Guard License

• OFA Level I Certification and advanced training completion

• One year of related experience or equivalent

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Physical capability to perform security duties
