BC Place is hiring for a part-time Supervisor, Health & Safety. The Supervisor, Health & Safety plays a key role in the success of health and safety operations at BC Place.
The Supervisor, Health & Safety will provide leadership to the department and support the Manager, Health & Safety in overseeing all aspects of BC Place’s Safety & Security department with a focus on first-aid operations including risk management, incident investigations, department regulatory and industry specific training, records management and ensuring the safety of team members, contractors, visitors, and guests at all times.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Supervise the performance of the BC Place First Aid Team and contractors, providing coaching, direction, and input into performance metrics, including recognition and rewards.
Provide operational and clinical support to the BC Place First Aid Team and contractors during high-acuity or operationally complex incidents.
Support Stadium Management and the Safety and Security team in managing and resolving public safety incidents.
Assist with investigations related to Event Safety and First Aid incidents by documenting dates, times, and locations; collecting reports and statements; conducting interviews; and taking detailed notes on scene.
Deliver thorough in-person stadium safety orientations, including for restricted areas, and maintain detailed records of all safety orientation briefings at the direction of the Occupational Health and Safety team.
Partner with People and Culture to design stadium-specific first aid training, such as seat extraction for emergency health reasons, and provide expertise and recommendations for the annual Safety and Security training plan.
Contribute to the development and updating of Safety and Security policies and procedures, including incident and accident reporting, emergency response, and evacuations.
Assist Security with records management for investigations, event logs, incident reports, and eviction cards, in alignment with the records management program for file coding and digitization.
Collaborate with the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) team to assess, implement, and maintain first aid-related safety compliance for event and non-event activities.
Ensure WorkSafeBC reporting arising from accident and incident investigations is initiated and shared with the People and Culture team.
Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, and evaluate their impact on first aid operations and safety practices.
Work with contractors and clients as required to meet departmental and event-specific needs.
Participate in and support the recruitment, orientation, and training of new team members.
Liaise effectively with First Aid staff, stadium departments, and BCEHS paramedics to support patient care and transportation decisions.
Perform other dutiesregardingthe management and performance of the departmentasrequired.
Including, scheduling, deployment management, pre/post event administration.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Three to five years of experience in a similar role within the event, entertainment, or service industry. Event medical experience is an asset. Experience in pre-hospitalcaresuch as ambulance services, or emergency nursing,is also an asset.
Valid Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent.
Emergency Operations Centre or Incident Command training is an asset.
Valid Basic Security Training (BST) licence is an asset.
Valid driver’s licence.
Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Experience developing first aid, pre-hospital care, and health and safety training strategies and programs.
