Position: Senior Underwriter, Contract Surety

RAISE Underwriting is an independently owned, Canadian Managing General Agent (MGA), dedicated to being an industry-leading supplier of risk insurance and surety products through transparency, honesty, and integrity.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Produce and underwrite new and existing contract surety business
  • Serve as key contact on assigned portfolio of accounts
  • Qualify customers’ financial, technical, and organizational capacity within RAISE’s appetite against the business opportunity, in accordance with department policies and procedures
  • Provide detailed recommendations of bond and account support by conducting financial and credit analysis
  • Make decisions and approve bonds within account or underwriting authority
  • Negotiate account and/or bond‑specific terms and conditions
  • Monitor current portfolio and assist with peer audits on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines
  • Build and maintain a network of relationships with brokers and various markets
  • Stay abreast to industry and market trends
  • Participate in team meetings to provide updates related to assigned portfolio of accounts, brokers, market intelligence, etc.
  • Maintaining high levels of service with solutions‑orientated approach
  • Identifying opportunities to upsell products
  • Contribute to the expansion of the RAISE brand through marketing with existing and new broker partners
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of four years of underwriting experience
  • University degree/college diploma or equivalent experience
  • High level of customer service and proven success in building and maintaining effective business relationships
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate contract language
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
