Job Summary

We are hiring a Full Time Millwright/Machinist to join our team in New Westminster, B.C.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) recognized by the Province of BC.
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Machinist recognized by the Province of BC.
  • At least two (2) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Detailed Overview

Performs skilled machinist work at the journeyman level including maintenance, repair, servicing, machining, alteration, troubleshooting, assembly, and installation of machine parts and components. Also performs skilled millwright work such as assembling, installing, aligning, altering, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, dismantling, and moving industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews work requests and consults with user departments regarding specifications and project requirements; interprets blueprints and drawings; estimates materials and labour costs; provides recommendations.
  • Prepares for work projects by performing operational and safety risk assessments, arranging work schedules, and assembling supplies and equipment.
  • Machine various materials and parts to required tolerances using tools, equipment, and computer software; repairs and maintains mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, turbines, belt drives, conveyors, electric motors, gear reducers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; fabricates, installs, and aligns components as required.
  • Calculates strengths and safe working loads; positions pieces of unassembled equipment; assembles and installs equipment; aligns machines and equipment.
  • Disassembles, resurfaces, cleans, reassembles, and adjusts mechanical equipment, components, or parts as required.
  • Performs the mechanical preventative maintenance program by inspecting machinery and components for repair and maintenance needs; performs diagnostic corrections and repairs using recognized methods; replaces worn or failed components.
  • Assigns work tasks to designated staff and provides related training and orientation.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools; completes related reports and records; recommends purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) recognized by the Province of BC and Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Machinist recognized by the Province of BC. Two (2) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
