Field Service Electrician Apprentice, Commercial Energy Service Overview
As a Commercial Field Service Apprentice Electrician with the Tesla Energy Commercial Operations Team, you will work under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Electrician on the maintenance of commercial PV, energy storage, and supercharging stations. The role involves a variety of electrical disciplines, including distribution/production power, lighting, and low voltage.
Working as a team with the Energy department, the Apprentice Electrician assists with the operations and maintenance of power distribution, transformers, lighting, and electrical equipment rated 480 VAC up to 1000 VDC, inverters, batteries, and DC strings under the guidance of a Licensed Electrician.
What To ExpectWhat You’ll Do
- Maintain and troubleshoot various types of electrical components
- Use complex electrical schematics and blueprints
- Consult manuals, read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Perform a wide variety of job scopes (servicing electric vehicle charging stations, battery energy storage systems, and any other required tasks assigned)
- Display positive attitude and practice good work ethics that reflect the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company
- Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback
- Must be a Registered 309A construction and maintenance electrician apprentice with the Skill Trades Ontario (ONTARIO OPENINGS) or Industry Training Authority (VANCOUVER OPENINGS)
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory and Ohm’s law. Must have 1-2 years of electrical experience including the installation of electrical equipment
- Use a variety of tools and equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment
- Experience working with low voltage control circuits & AC power circuits. Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics
- Ability to travel to numerous sites daily and travel up to 2 weeks at a time with short notice with flexibility to work on weekends and/or overtime along with overnight stay to support Tesla’s critical mission
- Must be able to work at great heights, work in extreme environments, perform prolonged periods of repetitious duties, lift at least 50 pounds frequently
- Must have compliant government issued identification for domestic air travel and/or to access certain federal facilities. Valid driver’s license required
