About Our Opportunity

Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children, families, and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community. We believe in the resiliency of Vancouver’s youth who are unhoused and street‑involved. We assist youth under the age of 25 to get counselling for trauma, mental health or substance use.

Our teams strive to create spaces and build connections with youth who are facing challenges of street life, substance use, mental health concerns, and disconnection from their communities.

After hours Supervisor coordinates the daily program functions of the After Hours Addictions Response Program; provides supervision and support on the floor to front‑line staff, students and works directly with unhoused, street‑involved youth. The After Hours Addictions Response Program operates between midnight and 8:00 am seven days a week, including holidays. This full‑time, 37.5 hour/week position reports to the Assistant Manager, Directions Youth Service Centre.

The supervisor will be tasked with scheduling and timecard management of their team.

The position and the front‑line staff it supervises works to promote safer, healthier alternatives to youth, and where possible, to assist in their transition from the street to residences, providing referral information where possible to eligible and ineligible clients. The position will consist of working with a variety of unhoused youth struggling with substance use, including those who are neurodiverse and/or face emotional/social challenges.

Work Hours

Tuesday – Saturday, 11:30 pm–7:30 am (37.5 hours/week)

Education, Training, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related human/social services field and/or a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years experience working with youth, preferably in support of youth who are unhoused, street‑involved, and/or use substances.
  • Current First Aid Certificate, Naloxone Training, and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset (will be provided if necessary).
  • Applicants with personal experience with addiction or street involvement
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
