1 Full-Time Temporary Position (5-Month Term)
Under the supervision of the Director of Indigenous Early Years, the Family Violence Intervention Program Coordinator (FVIPC) supports the IEY team at Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS).
The FVIPC plans and facilitates a structured six-week program at the Phil Bouvier Family Centre. This program is co‑facilitated with an Elder and is grounded in Indigenous knowledge, teachings, and lived experiences. Referrals are received from individuals accessing the Family Violence Intervention Program (FVIP), as well as from the Ministry and other government partners.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate a structured, culturally grounded group program focused on healing and learning
- Develop and maintain case notes and participant support plans
- Provide follow‑up and aftercare support to participants
- Assist with case management as needed
- Support program development and enhancement of curriculum components
- Work collaboratively with Elders, staff, and community partners
- Perform other related duties as required
- Minimum 3+ years of experience facilitating group processes, ideally in healing or learning environments
- Strong understanding of and commitment to Indigenous worldviews and pedagogies
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, particularly in urban settings
- Knowledge of trauma, intergenerational impacts of colonization, mental health, and substance use
- Experience using the Medicine Wheel as a teaching and program framework
- Ability to provide one‑to‑one support and develop participant care plans
- Experience with referrals and supporting individuals and families with complex needs
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Commitment to culturally safe, respectful, and trauma‑informed practice
This is a full‑time temporary (5‑month) position. The position is covered under the BCGEU union agreement, with a starting wage of $31.18/hour , plus eligibility for benefits after 3 months (as per union guidelines).
