About the RoleLookout Housing and Health Society provides housing and a range of support services to adults with low or no income who have few, if any, housing or support options. They place minimal barriers between clients and services to help meet basic needs and goals.
Location & ScheduleSite:
Tamura House – 18 minute walk from Waterfront Skytrain Station.
Working days:
Sunday through Thursday.
Shift: 10:00 – 18:00. 7.5 hours per shift.
Rest days are consecutive. Schedule changes may be notified with two weeks' notice.
Probationary period: 488 hours with mid‑point and end‑point reviews.
CompensationSalary: $35.76 – $37.75 per hour, depending on seniority as per the Collective Agreement.
Job SummaryThe Supervisor reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. The Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the site residence, providing support, assistance, education and skill development for adults living in residence who may be working toward greater independence and stability.
The Supervisor ensures program mandate, policies, and procedures are followed.
- Supervise daily operations and ensure adherence to society policies and procedures.
- Ensure service engagement, case planning, management, and discharge planning are consistent with mandate.
- Perform tasks associated with engagement of tenants and service delivery.
- Complete required records and maintain statistical data.
- Participate in tenant intake, service support, assessment, service plans, crisis intervention and administer medication and finances.
- Use vehicle when necessary.
- Manage complex duties and maintain alertness during working hours (sleeping during shifts not permitted).
- Comply with and contribute to all aspects of the health and safety program.
- Post‑secondary education of at least two years plus recent related experience, or equivalent combination, including at least one year supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with community resources, particularly addiction, mental health, welfare and harm reduction.
- Current OFA 1 First Aid Certificate.
- Crisis Intervention Skills Training is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and in a supervisory role; good judgment, tact, and discretion.
- Strong organization and high‑workload management skills.
- Excellent communication, writing, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Maintain professional boundaries with clientele and workers.
- Ability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environment.
- Strong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job‑related equipment.
- Minimum of two years sobriety if concerns related to alcohol or drug use.
- Criminal Record Clearance – vulnerable sector.
