ROLE PURPOSE
This position will provide outreach support to client(s) referred to Connective and assist individuals achieve sustainable employment.
STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION
This position requires union membership. It is open to all genders.
17.5 hours 3 days per week, flexible
Individual must be available to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients
REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports and is accountable to the Program Manager or their designate
Participates as a member of the Connective services team to ensure quality and continuity of services
Liaises with staff and volunteers of Connective, community and government agencies as required
Accepts clinical direction from the care team
Participates as a member of the Connective staff team
KEY
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensures that effective employment programs are delivered
Liaises with other Connective staff/management regarding potential referrals of suitable participants for the ACES employment program, or for referrals of participants already in the ACES program to other Connective programs and services.
Liaises with contractors who provide training or certification in assisting participants achieving employment
Completes Intake and Employability Assessments to determine eligibility and suitability for the program
Ensures all skills training and employment activities will enhance and support participants to acquire the skills, experience and credentials required to secure Sustainable Employment or move on to further education and training leading to Sustainable Employment; the training must be aligned with the needs and level of employability of the participants
Based on individual need, provides a combination of employment assistance services, skills development training, and/or wage subsidies in order for each participant to achieve the expected participant outcomes
Conducts in depth assessment of participants training needs (personality, vocational and essential skills assessments)
Works with each participant to develop an individualized plan including identifying training needs, key steps, timelines, resources and milestones to achieve employment or career goals, using the Case Administration Management System
Actively develops volunteer and job placements in the community for participants
Provides direct support to employers in hiring and supporting participants to maintain employment including developing training plans
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with relevant community services and agencies
Is knowledgeable of community agencies for effective participant referrals and support
Liaises with government, community agencies, and members of the general public
Participates in opportunities such as information fairs in correctional institutions or in the community to promote Connective employment programs and other services
Establishes and maintains effective/collaborative relationships in the employment/business sector to garner volunteer or job opportunities for participants
Organizes institutional based employment skills, life skills, skills enhancement and worksite orientation
Provides and organizes community-based employment support, follows‑up employment coaching and ensures participant engagement
Interviews applicants for suitability and ensures adherence to program criteria
Locates and secures appropriate placement for program participants and monitor/support the participant in their work experience with employment coaching
Provides one‑to‑one outreach support
Completes monthly evaluations by program staff on achievement and progress; collects workplace evaluation from employers
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Graduated with a Degree or Diploma in Humanities or Social Science with an emphasis on Social Work, Counselling Criminology; equivalencies may be considered
