Family Visitation Worker

Join Atira Women’s Resource Society as a Family Visitation Worker, providing culturally safe support in Vancouver. This role focuses on strengthening relationships between Indigenous mothers and their young children through a trauma-informed approach.

As a casual Family Visitation Worker, you’ll work closely with Indigenous women and children impacted by trauma. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed visitation plans and facilitating nurturing interactions that strengthen their bonds. You will report to the Manager of the Therapeutic Visitation Program and collaborate in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehensive Family visitation plans for mothers and children

• Facilitate supportive interactions that nurture mother-child relationships

• Maintain a trauma-informed, culturally safe environment

• Document and assess visitation outcomes regularly

• Support women facing challenges related to substance use and mental wellness

Requirements:

• Self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)

• Diploma in human/social services or similar field

• Minimum three years of related experience

• Valid First Aid and Non-violent crisis intervention certificates

• Understanding of gendered violence and its impacts
