Make an impact in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside as a Community Service Worker with FIRST UNITED. This role focuses on supporting vulnerable individuals while fostering dignity and belonging in the community.
FIRST UNITED is hiring two Community Service Workers through the Canada Summer Jobs program. In this position, you'll provide critical assistance to individuals facing challenges like addiction, mental health issues, and homelessness. You will work with a dynamic team, carrying out tasks that enhance community well-being and support vital services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist at the community hub desk for safety monitoring
• Sort and transport donations between work sites
• Track and manage program data and inventory
• Create harm reduction kits and manage community supplies
• Support breakfast and lunch services for the community
Requirements:
• Experience with marginalized individuals preferred
• Strong communication skills in English
• Completed post-secondary education in related fields
• Must pass a vulnerable sector check
• Canadian citizenship or legal work entitlement required
