Connective is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our forward-thinking nonprofit organization in the role of Casual Residence Support Workers to work in our Youth and Adult programs in Vancouver. ROLEPURPOSE
In this role, you will build relationships with individuals and assist them to achieve their goals as well as ensuring that the client’s emotional/behavior, social, physical, and medical needs are met. Our Community Inclusion programs help individuals access services and build community connections, while supporting them to develop life skills. We work one-on-one with service users to encourage them to identify, work toward, and achieve their goals so they can build greater independence and more active community engagement.
Community-based outreach supports may include employment, housing, building healthy relationships and pursuing social/recreational opportunities.
- Mornings (08:00 – 16:00)
- Evenings (16:00 – 00:00)
- Overnights (00:00 – 08:00)
Shift availability requirements:
- Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month in which 7 are overnight shifts.
- If you are working full‑time, or if you are a full‑time student, we ask you for 15 shifts of availability per month in which five are overnight shifts (this is subject to employer or enrollment proof).
- These positions require the ability to work flexible hours during the daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provides input to the Program Manager and/or other staff regarding the development of appropriate care plans to achieve residents’ objectives.
- Acts as a positive role model for residents, providing emotional support, behavior management, and supporting individuals in achieving goals.
- Identifies social, economic, recreational, employment, and educational services in the community that will meet the needs of each client.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and consults with team psychologist and psychiatrists to develop, implement, maintain, and adjust individualized treatment plans.
- Working with other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory, and food services.
- BC Valid class 5 driver’s license (Must be able to drive multiple clients).
- Experience working with high-risk individuals with multiple diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorders, FASD, ADHD, trauma and complex behavioral challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to respond efficiently in crisis and escalated situations.
- Diploma, preferably in behavioral sciences, social work, human services, psychology, child & youth care.
- Ability to follow safety and behavioral support plans to calmly and effectively deescalate clients who are facing challenging behaviors and high escalations.
- Experience providing trauma-informed support to clients in challenging environments.
- Ability to work in a team environment where communication and consistency is key.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (please refer to the Certificates accepted in B.C.
- Work Safe). - Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records/MCDF Clearence Check and reference checks.
As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $25.95 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits (for casual positions). The wage will increase with every 2,000 hours worked up to a maximum of $29.76 per hour.
IMPORTANTIMPORTANT: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
