Position: Full-Time Social Worker in Guardianship
Join VACFSS as a full-time Social Worker specializing in Indigenous Guardianship. Help safeguard the welfare of Indigenous children through culturally responsive and community-focused care in Vancouver.

As a Guardianship Social Worker, you will report to the Guardianship Team Leader, ensuring children under continuing custody receive holistic care that honors their cultural identity. This role includes developing comprehensive care plans and working closely with families and community, emphasizing collaboration to address oppression and discrimination. Your efforts will contribute to meaningful, lasting impacts for Indigenous children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement holistic care plans centered on cultural identity

• Facilitate strong connections among the child’s support circle

• Provide advocacy for culturally specific resources

• Explore options for returning children to their family

• Assist youth in planning for future independence

Requirements:

• Required Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or equivalent

• At least one year of child welfare experience

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle

• In-depth knowledge of relevant child welfare legislation

• Strong relationships built through trauma-informed practices
