Shelter Resource Worker at Lookout Society

Join Lookout Housing and Health Society as a Shelter Resource Worker in Vancouver. Help vulnerable adults by providing comprehensive support in an emergency shelter setting.

In this full-time role, you'll report to the Site Manager and work directly with individuals facing homelessness and associated challenges. Responsibilities include conducting guest intakes, facilitating connections to community resources, and ensuring a secure environment in the shelter. You will support both guests and staff while adhering to the organization’s mission and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist and supervise homeless adults facing various barriers

• Manage guest intakes and orient them upon arrival

• Share information about community services available

• Document necessary records and maintain statistical data

• Promote health and safety measures within the shelter

Requirements:

• Certificate or minimum Grade 12 and two years of relevant experience

• Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate required

• Crisis intervention skills and trauma-informed practice training preferred

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

• Clear Criminal Record – Vulnerable Sector needed
