About Our OpportunityWorking within the mission, vision, values and person-centred philosophy of the
Agency, the Assistant Manager supervises Directions Youth Services Centre program staff, including selection, performance management, discipline and dismissal. The role supervises case management: plans, develops, implements, and oversees client engagement strategies and the creation of individual service plans for youth. With the support of the program management, the Assistant Manager plans, develops, implements, and oversees the ongoing day-to-day operation of the program.
It actively supports the Agency’s awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

Work Hours: 37.5 per week (Full-time)
Salary: MGP2 Step 1 $ 38.28 – $42.43 per hour

What do you need to succeed?Education, Training, Experience- Bachelor’s degree in social work, youth care, or related field
- Five (5) years’ experience working with homeless and/or at-risk youth, plus three (3) years managing and leading team members
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Awareness of community services, resources and systems and ability to work with these; competence in working with a multi-cultural community
- A committed ability to keep informed about evolving trends and practices, share knowledge, and support staffto integrate innovation into the delivery of quality care/services
- Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage and evaluate clinical programs considering client needs, service delivery interrelationships, and service potential within a complex environment
- Ability to understand available resources for program and keep quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions; providing feedback and detailed analysis on budget variances, and making recommendations for corrective action
- Ability to develop and maintain a strong and supportive team environment
- Thorough knowledge of adolescent development, at-risk youth and the child welfare system
- Thorough knowledge of harm reduction and trauma-informed care practices
- Solid working knowledge of addictions and mental health
- Collaborative case management and strong advocacy skills
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
- Current First Aid, Food Safe Level 1, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates are an asset
