About Our Opportunity
Providing Resources and Independence for Youth Development (PRIYD) is a community-based program focusing on functional life skills and community participation for children and youth with support needs living in Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, and Vancouver. A support for children and youth with developmental disabilities, the goals of the program are to increase each person’s independence and to support the family. Service is provided both one-to-one and in small groups.

Staff work directly with children and youth who may have diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Fragile X syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and/or mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.

Work Hours:

35 hours per week Tuesday-Saturday, with variable start and end times based on client availability. Typically starting around 11:00 am-12:00 pm on weekdays, ending around 7:00 pm-8:00 pm. Saturdays: 9:00 am-6:00 pm.

Salary:  GS 9 Step 1 - 4 $ 28.81 - $31.91 per hour

Location:

Community-based, with administrative time spent at 1638 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC. Possibility of occasional partial days worked from home.

What do you need to succeed?
Under the supervision of the Regional Service Coordinators and Managers, as a community-based Integration Support Worker, you will provide service to families in the following ways:

Provide one-to-one and group support to children and youth with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder

Formulate goals, action plans and strategies together with your clients and their caregivers

Through community-based recreational activities, support your clients, using coaching, modelling and emotional support, to develop life skills, age and ability-appropriate independence and integration in the community

As a resource, advocate, role model and community liaison, connect with social workers, behaviour consultants, educational staff and families as part of an integrated team

Your commitment to meaningful documentation and progress reports will ensure continuity of care for your clients

Education, Training, Experience

Two years of post-secondary education or training in child & youth care or a related field

Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder
