Nature & ScopeThe YMCA Step Forward:
Care Careers for Refugees program supports refugees in obtaining sustainable employment in the care sector. Through a participant-centred case management approach, the program combines employment preparation, occupation-specific language support, workplace placements, employer engagement, and employment retention support.
The Case Manager works directly with participants from intake through employment placement, while coordinating wraparound supports that address settlement and employment barriers. The position also supports outreach, participant recruitment, employer engagement, workshop facilitation, and program evaluation.
Major Responsibilities - in this position, you will:- Conduct participant intake, eligibility screening, assessments, and employment planning.
- Deliver employability, workplace readiness, and job search workshops.
- Coordinate participant supports and referrals.
- Support workplace placements and employer relationships.
- Provide ongoing case management and employment retention support.
- Conduct outreach and participant recruitment activities.
- Maintain participant records, outcome tracking, and reporting.
- Collaborate with employer partners and community agencies.
- Apply trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and participant-centred service delivery practices
- Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in employment, settlement, newcomer, or social services.
- Experience supporting refugees, newcomers, or diverse populations preferred.
- Strong facilitation, employer engagement, and case management skills.
- Knowledge of community resources and labour market trends.
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and client management systems.
- Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
