Quality Assurance Engineer

Join our innovative Vancouver-based startup at the forefront of the online gaming industry. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Quality Assurance (QA) engineer to support the planning, development, and execution of manual and automated tests to validate the quality of our poker platform, microservices, as well as desktop, mobile and web applications.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to review product and system requirements, create and maintain test plans and test cases, execute exploratory and regression testing, and track and report quality issues. You will help validate new features and defect fixes, assist with root-cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvements in testing practices and tooling.
This position is well-suited for QA professionals who enjoy hands-on testing, collaboration, and improving product quality through consistent and thorough validation across frontend and backend systems.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases for frontend and backend systems.
Estimate, prioritize, plan, and execute testing activities across multiple environments.
Perform thorough regression testing following defect fixes and feature enhancements.
Log, track, and verify defects using issue tracking tools, and work with developers to ensure timely resolution.
Assist in root cause analyses to identify and implement quality improvement initiatives.
Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of QA tooling and testing infrastructure.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a QA engineer, with a focus on distributed systems, downloadable iOS and Android mobile apps.
Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes.
Experience working closely with software developers in an agile/scrum environment.
Proven ability in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
Hands-on experience with both grey box and black box testing.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with automated testing tools is a plus.
Experience testing APIs and backend services is a plus.

Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.

Experience with cloud computing platforms such as GCP and AWS is a plus.

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
Familiarity with gRPC.
Familiarity with Flutter and Dart.
Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
