Position: Backend Software Engineer for Confluent Cloud
Join IBM Software and develop robust backend services for Confluent’s cloud-native platform. This role focuses on scalable, reliable backend systems transforming real-time data experiences.

As a Backend Software Engineer at Confluent, you will design and operate critical backend services integral to our data streaming platform. Leveraging your expertise in distributed systems, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems are secure, performant, and easy to operate. Your focus will be on developing features from inception through to production rollout and on-going enhancement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop secure, cloud-native backend services

• Own projects end-to-end, from requirements to ongoing improvements

• Work collaboratively on microservices and API design

• Ensure service reliability with monitoring and operational improvements

• Contribute to a culture of clean code through reviews and documentation

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with production backend systems

• Proficient in major programming languages like Java or Python

• Experience with cloud deployments (AWS, GCP, Azure)

• Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architectures

• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
