Senior Software Developer, C++

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer experienced in C++ and C# development within on‑premise or cloud platform development environments. The role requires hands‑on technical leadership in new product development and maintenance activities.

This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver area, as you will be required to work from the office on a hybrid schedule.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience delivering complex, large‑scale, public‑facing applications and APIs, and solid knowledge of Dev Ops, CI/CD, and test automation tools and concepts.

• Key contributor within the Scrum team: playing a role in the team’s journey to high performance.
• Developing on Avigilon Unity Video Products used by security professionals worldwide.
• Building trust among team members and mentoring to champion a culture of continuous learning and growth.
• Participating in defining and executing direction for build pipelines, containerization, Dev Ops tooling, and test automation.
• Providing end‑to‑end software solutions, encompassing design, architecture, implementation, maintenance, and user support.
• Growing and training our software organization: fostering strong collaborative relationships with fellow developers and technical leadership.
• Proactively providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Upholding rigorous standards for software development and quality, both personally and across the team.
• Consistently showing up with energy and passion, optimistic outlook, transparent communication, and a growth‑oriented perspective.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Extensive experience in C++.
• Experience working in a large code base.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working with databases (Berkeley, Postgres).

• Successful delivery of a large‑scale public‑facing application.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, test automation, and Dev Ops.
• Experience developing cloud applications in Azure.
• Experience developing applications in C++, C#, and .NET.

• Contributing to a product deployed in high‑stakes safety scenarios, protecting the well‑being of people in various environments.
• Streamlining communication and improving reactions to critical safety incidents.
• Supporting the creation of more secure events and public assemblies, such as major league sports games and music concerts.
• Commitment to professional development & advancement, with supportive managers and 10% dedicated time for continuous learning (1 day every 2 weeks).
• Gaining experience across a broad spectrum of technologies, orchestrating the flow and storage of diverse media streams and developing robust, large‑scale APIs for on‑premise and cloud environments.
• Seamlessly integrating with a wide array of cameras, devices, and sensors.

Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $155,000 CAD.
