Key West Travel & Tours is a Vancouver-based Canadian travel company with over 20 years of experience creating unforgettable journeys across Western Canada. We specialize in guided tours, custom travel packages, and group travel experiences.
The RoleWe are looking for a Software Developer Intern to help extend and improve our existing backend services, APIs, and the applications that consume them. You'll work with a modern, actively developed codebase — adding new features, improving data flows, and building new applications on top of our internal platform.
What You'll Do- API Development: Extend our existing REST APIs with new endpoints, features, and improvements to support business needs.
- Data Pipeline Work: Maintain and enhance the data pipelines that keep our systems in sync, including schema changes and data-quality improvements.
- Consumer Applications: Build and improve applications that consume our APIs — internal tools, integrations, and new services.
- Database Management: Work with relational database schema design, migrations, and structuring data to support new application logic.
- System Integration: Connect our backend services with external APIs and third-party tools.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong database skills: comfortable with SQL, schema design, and reasoning about how existing data models support application logic.
- Ability to read and work within an existing codebase — understanding established patterns before extending them.
- Proficiency in a backend language such as Java or Python; familiarity with REST API design or React is an asset.
- Ability to translate requirements into functional software features.

Ship features to live services that power day-to-day business operations. - Full-Stack Depth: Work across the data pipeline, API layer, and consuming applications — seeing how each layer fits together.
- Portfolio Work: Concrete contributions to a production system in a live business environment.
