Board of Directors

via Sport British Columbia is inviting passionate individuals to apply for positions on its Board of Directors. We are seeking leaders who can contribute their time, expertise, and lived experiences to help guide our collective sport ecosystem with the aim of inspiring more British Columbians to play, grow, and connect through sport.

via Sport BC (via Sport) is an independent not-for-profit organization and a legacy of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games operating as the provincial government’s lead agency responsible for promoting and developing amateur sport in British Columbia. via Sport leads the development and growth of amateur sport in BC by working closely with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport to steward the provincial government’s investment in amateur sport.

We work directly with Designated Sport Organizations in BC to build a stronger, more effective sport system; we work collaboratively with all interest holders to build public trust and increase confidence in amateur sport.

We provide strategic leadership to the amateur sport system by:

• convening and collaborating with partners to build public trust and confidence in the promise of sport.
• connecting sport organizations to funding, resources, and other capacity‑building.
• developing policy and shared measurement practices.
• collecting data and providing information to advance shared goals.
• advancing economic growth and social development through equitable access to sport.

In alignment with via Sport’s Board Charter and Director role description, the via Sport Board provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the organization fulfills its mission. Guided by a deep commitment to helping British Columbians reach their potential through sport, we are particularly focused on broadening diversity and welcoming new perspectives from across the province.

Skills, expertise, or lived experience in areas such as disability inclusion, leading community service delivery, and safeguarding are highly valued and will strengthen the Board’s collective impact. We would also like to encourage applicants with experience in marketing, human resources, legislation and policy, and Information technology.

All applications will be reviewed by via Sport’s Nominations Committee, who will follow up directly with applicants. A shortlist of recommended candidates will be presented to the Board for approval in April 2026, before formally bringing to the July 2026 Annual General Meeting.
