Location: Robert Lee YMCA (955 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC V6E 0B1)

Term: Temporary, Part-Time

Hours: 3-5 hours per week

Shift: TBD;
Monday and Wednesday, 6pm-8:30pm

Start Date: April 13, 2026

Salary: $ per hour, depending on experience

Reports To: Supervisor, Fitness

    Nature & Scope

    Reporting to the Fitness Supervisor, the Personal Trainer will provide instruction and information in small group personal training strength and fitness classes designed for women experiencing the menopause transition.
    This is a new 6-week program starting in April, 2026, with potential to repeat quarterly. Trainers will work collaboratively with all YMCA staff and volunteers to provide exceptional service to members and guests of the YMCA. They will provide program participants with a comfortable and productive fitness environment through quality training and education, and they will provide feedback to YMCA BC to help learn from this pilot for an effective roll-out in 2026.

    Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:

  • Assist participants reach their goals as part of the Moving Through Menopause program, in a positive and professional manner.
  • Perform all administration duties for the pilot program including training, planning, program delivery, evaluation, and records.
  • Build meaningful relationships through regular interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Cultivate personal training relationships by presenting the value of personal training to participants as an option to continue their fitness journey beyond the pilot program.
  • Clean all prescribed areas based on infection prevention protocols including fitness and high touch areas.
  • Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff – this includes the free weight, stretching, circuit and cardio areas.
  • Qualification-you bring:

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Preference given to a current YMCA BC personal trainer
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate
  • YMCA or BCRPA Personal Training Certification or equivalent
  • Knowledge and/or personal experience in the menopause transition are assets
  • Older adult certifications are an asset
  • Group fitness certificate is an asset
  • Guidance and/or Nutrition an asset
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
