Aircraft Maintenance Engineer M1​/M2 - Resident or Rotational - YVR

About the Role

Summit Air is an aviation operator based in Yellowknife, NT, providing passenger charter, cargo, and specialized aviation solutions across Canada.

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fleet aircraft in compliance with Transport Canada standards and company procedures.
• Sign off on maintenance releases, taking responsibility for work performed per licence privileges.
• Troubleshoot aircraft systems, diagnose complex defects using sound judgement and technical skill.
• Inspect and certify replacement parts before installation.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, defect reports, and technical logs.
• Participate in Summit Air's Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Assurance programs.
• Mentor apprentice AMEs and junior technicians where applicable.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment in the hangar and on the line.
• Support the Maintenance Controller in planning and scheduling maintenance activities.

• Valid Transport Canada M1 and/or M2 AME licence.
• Minimum one year of experience on large, multi‑engine aircraft.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft systems (airframes, powerplants, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, environmental).
• Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, airworthiness directives, and technical documentation.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team in a remote or rotational environment.
• Valid driver's licence.

• Experience on multi‑engine types such as Avro RJ, ATR, Dash 8 (DHC-8), or Dornier 228 (D228).
• Canadian Armed Forces aviation technician or equivalent military‑equivalent credentials.
• Experience in northern, remote, or rotational aviation environments.
• Corrosion control experience and knowledge.

• Week 1–2:
  Structured onboarding at Yellowknife base – SMS orientation, base familiarisation, fleet introduction, and introductions to the maintenance and operations teams.
• Weeks 3–6:
  Supervised line familiarisation on Summit Air's aircraft types, with mentorship from a senior AME.
• By 90 days:
  Full integration into the maintenance schedule, with autonomy appropriate to licence and experience.
