As marine transportation specialists, Mercury Transport Inc. assists our clients with all year-round movement of goods, machinery and people over water.

We are seeking an Operations Manager / Marine Dispatcher to join our team based primarily in our Vancouver Harbour location

We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

This is a full-time permanent position, must be available to work weekends, manage after hours on call, and may be required to travel to other Mercury Transport locations.

Ideal Candidate:

Self-starter who can work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Mechanical aptitude, must not be afraid to get your hands dirty.

Troubleshooting ability and solutions provider.

Able to multitask is a must.

Able to respond positively to new challenges and continuous improvements while maintaining current standards.

Must be confident, assertive and have strong communication skills

Local to GVRD

Duties include:

Coordinating Tug, barge and water taxi services

Monitoring weather forecasts and current sea states.

Preparation of project bid and tender quotations.

Liaising with customers, and Mercury Transport crews.

Reviewing and maintaining Mercury Transport crew certifications.

Reviewing and maintaining Mercury Transport vessel certifications.

Receiving customer materials and equipment, using mechanical equipment (e.g. forklift).

Maintaining storage areas in a tidy and organized manner.

Experience

Minimum of 2 years in a similar role within an industrial setting.

Experience working within the marine industry an asset.

Small Vessel Operator Proficiency certification an asset (training can be provided).

Competencies:

Committed to safety and able to follow all safety procedures.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Telephone skills a must

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, in office (no remote work), must be available to work weekends and after hours. Working towards week on / week off schedule.

Salary Range: $90,000 + based on skill sets
