Bridge Watch Rating Deckhand

Use bridge watch, seamanship, and passenger-control skills as a Deckhand in Crofton with BC Ferries. Support safe vessel operations every sailing.
Reporting to the Chief Officer or Mate, this Deckhand role supports vessel operations, safety, and customer service. Duties include directing vehicle and foot passenger traffic, communicating with officers and ticketing staff, monitoring hazards, and maintaining vessel areas. The position also includes watchkeeping and emergency responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct vehicle and foot passenger traffic aboard vessels
Secure car decks and passenger gates before departure
Patrol vessels for hazards and passenger compliance
Stand fog, bridge, or anchor watch
Complete cleaning, maintenance, drills, and emergency duties
Requirements:
Hold Bridge Watch Rating CoC or higher
Hold STCW Basic Safety and Survival Craft training
Hold a valid Seafarer's Medical Certificate
Direct vehicles and passengers during emergencies
Climb ladders, handle lines, and move heavy objects
Apply bridge watch, emergency training, and seamanship skills while supporting safe, reliable BC Ferries service from Crofton.
