Warehouse Worker (Election Office)

Overview
The Warehouse Worker performs material handling at the Vancouver Election Office warehouse, including loading, unloading, sorting, storing, moving, and counting inventory; receiving and issuing voting place supplies, packing and labeling voting place supplies; delivering supplies to voting places; and conducting general warehouse maintenance.
Responsibilities- Unload and inspect supplies for quality and quantity
- Compare purchase orders to packing slips, report and document discrepancies
- Arrange and stock supplies on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence; restock shelves as required
- Store, distribute, and/or dispose of returned material
- Conduct scheduled inventory cycle counts; record totals and report discrepancies
- Packs, assembles, prepares, and delivers voting place supplies to voting places
- Assist with logistics of delivery and pickup of supplies to voting places
- Adhere to safety methods, departmental processes, and corporate policies
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Completion of grade 12 or equivalency
- Related warehouse experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A valid B.C. driver’s license is required; license must not include restrictions that affect the ability to carry out job responsibilities

Skills and Abilities
:
- Working knowledge of warehouse methods, procedures and regulations
- Physical strength and agility to meet job demands (lifting, bending, reaching, carrying; moving heavy items in all weather conditions)
- Knowledge of various types and grades of supplies, tools and equipment used in municipal operations
- Ability to issue/receive supplies and perform related clerical recordkeeping (manual or computer)
- Ability to use software systems used in the work
- Ability to work in high-volume environments with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work comfortably on a ladder or at height
- Ability to read, write, count, and speak English
- Steel-toe boots required
- Ability to work weekends and evenings during peak season
Candidates must attach the following records and satisfy the City’s driving requirements to be considered for this role:
- Copy of your five-year ICBC Commercial Driver’s Abstract (N Print) dated within 14 days of posting
- Copy of your five-year ICBC Driver’s Claims History dated within 14 days of posting
- If you have less than five years driving experience in BC, a request must be made for out-of-province/country abstract and claims history
