Job Title: Civil Construction Project Manager

Position Overview

We are a small, highly focused, and collaborative team of construction professionals. Adding a new team member is a thoughtful and deliberate process. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To perform this role successfully, the Civil Construction Project Manager must be able to carry out each essential duty efficiently and effectively. The responsibilities listed below represent the primary functions of the role; additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Act as a steward of company culture, values, and professional standards

  • Take full ownership of assigned projects
  • Make day‑to‑day decisions that support project profitability while maintaining strong relationships and core values
  • Mentor and support Project Engineers, interns, and peers
  • Identify, mitigate, and report project risks in a timely manner
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Manage and/or execute all or part of the project buyout process, including authoring purchase orders and subcontracts
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules and weekly look‑ahead schedules
  • Manage the change order process with owners and trade partners, including identification, documentation, negotiation, and timely submission of claims or requests for equitable adjustments
  • Oversee submittal and RFI processes, including tracking and documentation
  • Manage the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) process in coordination with the Project Superintendent
  • Prepare and present detailed and accurate monthly project status reports to leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all contract documents, specifications, drawings, and project requirements
  • Coordinate and lead weekly project meetings and distribute meeting minutes
  • Create, monitor, update, and forecast project costs and revenues on a line‑by‑line basis
  • Maintain complete and accurate project files, including as‑built documentation
  • Communicate frequently and professionally with general contractors, subcontractors, and owners’ representatives
  • Perform additional duties as needed, including supporting other roles when project demands require flexibility and cross‑functional collaboration
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Previous experience in construction management or a similar role
  • Proven leadership experience with strong people‑management skills
  • Extensive experience managing construction project budgets
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and processes
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience with conflict resolution and issue management
  • Heavy civil and/or highway construction experience preferred
  • Familiarity with bridge construction, structural concrete, grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), retaining walls, and other highway construction scopes
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Project
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job preferred
  • Knowledge of Primavera scheduling software
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam PDF software
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
  • Solid understanding of Construction Quality Control practices
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and teams
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to anticipate project needs
  • Positive attitude and high level of professionalism
  • Highly organized with strong time‑management skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
