Be a Host Family to a High School Exchange Student

Education Travel & Culture (ETC) offers high school students from around the world the opportunity to study in an American high school and live with an American family. We work with the U.S. Department of State to place J‑1 visa students in homes that provide a safe, nurturing, and culturally enriching experience.

• Ensure a safe and nurturing home environment for the student
• Provide the student with a room (which may be shared with a similarly aged host sibling) and their own bed
• Serve three meals per day
• Arrange transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities
• Give love and support to the student
• Explore cultural differences and similarities together
• Families with or without children are accepted

• They bring their own spending money and health insurance
• They have good English skills
• They are highly screened for the program
• They are excited to meet their American family

• Learn a new culture by tasting new foods, listening to new music, and speaking a new language
• Share your culture with an exchange student
• Add another member to your family
• Help a student obtain an American education and a life‑changing experience
